From 2006 Artūras Melianas worked in Vilnius County as Deputy Head and was responsible for Social Support, Health, Education and culture fields.

Artūras Melianas focuses on multi-ethnic children`s education in accordance with European standarts, on reduction of unnecessary ethnic tensions, development of care services for children and pensioners, renovation of County medical institutions, organization of culture and sport events.

Together with colleagues he implemented successfully “One-window principle” customer service, improved presentation of the information, renewed Vilnius County homepage www.apskritis.lt, increased activities of the Regional Development Council and Tripartite Council (social partners – labour unions, employer organizations and representatives of the local government). We also developed cooperation with neighbour states: Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Latvia.
