Artūras Melianas was elected at LR Seimas with people support.

From 2000 10 19 to 2001 07 05 he was chairman on Social Affairs and Labour Committee. Artūras Melianas prepared Lithuanian Labour Code, Pension Reform Law, Guarantee Fund Law and etc. Also he contributed to the presentation of European Social Charter ratification.

Artūras Melianas worked with passion in Parliamentary Assemblies of Lithuania-Poland and Lithuania-Ukraine. He always maintained close cross-border relations in the field of social protection and economy. He also initiated abolition of visas to Ukraine.
