Lithuanian Social Workers Association (LSWA) consolidates social workers throughout Lithuania. Although LSWA is novice, however it is done many actions to professionalism. There are about 6000 social workers in Lithuania. Social workers started to train and re-skill in the Lithuanian educational institutions by courtesy of LSWA. Yet social work is one of the least paid jobs and even dangerous, because social worker has often to work with social risk individuals. Another important association goal is increasing salaries and improving of working conditions. LSWA tries to spread good practice in the field of social work, also participates in the studies and publishing activities.

Artūras Melianas participates in the LSWA activities since association establishment. He was elected LSWA vice-president in the 2004.

• Organization of the first social facility contest
• Agreements with Social affairs and Labour Ministry on allocations for increasing social workers salaries in 2005
• Preparation of the information publications etc.
